New Column – #276

October 20, 2008

I know I haven’t posted here in a while, and it’s my fault.  Here’s my new column, leading up to a big week for me.  Check this out, and I hope to hear from you.

I wonder where the WWE got the guts to edit portions of Smackdown from airing this past friday night. I read the spoilers, and at the end of the night, Hardy was laying on the canvas following a pedigree from the WWE Champion. However, as the show went off the air friday night, the typical pre-match staredown between Vladimir “Don’t call me Oleg” Kozlov and Triple H was the final scene as the screen went black. I wonder what was the decision and why it was left on the cutting room floor in Stamford. It’s the first time in a long time that I can remember a portion of the show that I read off the spoilers had been left off the show. I’d love to, I never will, but I would love to find out the reason as to why.

Is Cyber Sunday turning in to a colossal flop? I mean, think about it. The international contingent of fans of WWE (Even I am sick of the term WWE Universe), complained about not being able to be a part of the voting because WWE went to cell phone texts only. Now, with the announcement of Big Show vs. Undertaker, the voting for that match is exclusively on WWE.com. So, WWE fans have to go to two separate locales to vote for the matches, inherently making the voting process significantly more confusing. Is this a political election, or a pay per view for professional wrestling?

The card isn’t shaping up to be very unpredictable either. The matches aren’t that marquis.

Jericho vs. Batista with a referee choice that is painfully obvious.

HHH vs. Kozlov, Jeff, or both. It’s painfully obvious that the match is going to be a triple threat match.

The ECW title match is more than likely going to be Matt vs. Henry again, but the chance of Bourne getting his first shot does make me a little more happier.

Santino’s match is so painfully obvious. I don’t believe that Honky Tonk Man is going to show up, and Dustin “Goldust” Runnels is recently still competing, so I’m betting Santino faces Goldust, even with the classic “Honk-A-Meter”, but if you expect Goldust, or Honky, for that matter, to win the match, well, what are you drinkin’, and can I have some?

Kane vs. Mysterio. A classic way of getting a talented smaller wrestler injured when you have the choices here. Falls Count Anywhere, No Holds Barred, or 2 out of 3. I would like to see 2 out of 3, because I think the longer it goes, the more it favors Mysterio, but I am betting it’ll be no holds barred, because it’s the one match of three that favors Kane the most.

Big Show vs. Undertaker. You and I all know it’s going to be a knockout match.

This pick your pair tag team match wassn’t even mentioned on the show this past friday, as far as I can remember (or have seen, I did miss a bit of it.) While I like the choices of Cryme Tyme vs. Miz/Morrison or even the World tag champs vs. Kingston and Punk, without any buildup for this match, even with the past of the first choice, and even the mixed tag match, does it really make you want to spend the money to pay for a vote?

All of this leads to one final hypothesis. Two Pay Per Views in October does not work. Especially when you should spend the extra time prepping for the major showcase come next month.

What I am interested in in the week leading up to Cyber Sunday, does anyone out there really like what the choices are, or does anyone out there really think that the voting is going to matter one bit, because I firmly believe throughout the history of this pay per view, that the voting is always skewered to fit the views of the WWE creative team.

Ok, enough griping on Cyber Sunday, now for a question about a new storyline on Smackdown. What is up with this new storyline of MVP losing all the time? Has WWE dropped the ball here? Yes, MVP was a tremendous United States Champion, and yes, MVP has been on the precipice of main event status for some time. Now, he’s gone and lost nine straight television matches, and the last eight Smackdown broadcasts. All because of this “incentive” clause. Is it really necessary in these troubled economic times to use an economic storyline toward the eventual final product here? No offense intended, if they wanted to have MVP lose for any other reason, I’d question it, but I’d live with it, but this use of the economic theme behind his losing streak is driving me nuts. And frankly, I like MVP as a competitor, and would like to see him return to the main event level that I think he should be at. But, of course, that’s up to the suits behind the scenes.

Kung Fu Naki. A nickname maked by R-Truth, based on, I guess, the Hong Kong Phooey cartoon. It’s funny. A little goofy, but hey, Funaki needs work, otherwise he’s liable to end up in the chopping block on the cutting room floor. But can’t they do something a little different? Maybe hold on to Funaki for a little bit longer until the new Japanese talent Naofumi Yamamoto is ready? It’s a thought. Not a critique.

My birthday is this week. The only reason I mention that is my wife was kind enough to pick up the Hell in a Cell DVD package for me. I’ve been watching it this weekend, and I love it. What’s ironic as hell is this. Who is hosting the program? Mick Foley. The man who TNA is promoting all over God’s creation as the face of TNA Wrestling is the host of a WWE DVD that is relatively brand new. I know it’s coincidental, and it’s just circumstances beyond the control of anyone who has that type of control, but let’s call it as it looks, it’s a bit disconcerting to have a new package out on home video, and have the man who deserves to be the host of that show not be employed by the company anymore because the owner is a pompous, egotistical ass.

But that’s just one man’s opinion.

I read a story about how TNA is drawing similar numbers in attendance to Ring of Honor for their house shows, which is a definite issue when TNA has a two hour prime time television spot, and much bigger star power. I got an answer to this quandary, and it’s rather simple. Quite a ways back, TNA and ROH were running on the same night near my hometown. TNA in Westbury, and ROH in Manhattan. I didn’t go to either show for my own reasons, but let’s look at this. At the time these shows were going, the venue TNA used was the North Fork theatre at Westbury, which is a medium sized area, but the sight lines aren’t the greatest because it’s a circular style interior. The Manhattan Center, at the time, the Grand Ballroom, has its sightline issues, but truth be told, it’s significantly easier to get a good seat in that venue at that time, rather than the venue in Westbury that TNA was using. Now, let’s look at this situation I had the choice of back in the day, economically. TNA’s show was $35 and up for tickets. ROH’s was $15 and up. $35 to sit in the rear of the arena in Westbury, & barely have the sight lines to enjoy the action, but $15 for a seat in near the sixth or seventh row from the ringside area in the Grand Ballroom for wrestling that may not have the star power, but at the time, had ten times more intensity. It’s a simple answer for a guy like me, but the situation is as simple as one sentence.

TNA needs to make their house shows more economical for the shows to garner more attendance. I don’t care if it’s $35 and up, and you have a “shot” to meet and greet some talents, make it cheaper, keep the perks, and you’ll get more people. Especially during these very trying times.

Going forward in TNA, it apepars the creative geniuses in TNA are dropping the use of the new Suicide character all together due to Kaz’s injury. Let me ask you something. Could you have come up with someone else, anyone else that could have filled in as Suicide? Maybe let Daniels play Suicide since the Curry Man gimmick has really stalled. Maybe have someone like Devine before he left TNA play Suicide. Someone, anyone who had the similar build as Senshi, who was the voice of Suicide in the game could’ve played the character, if you have the imagination to work with it. Or, God forbid, try to woo Senshi (Low Ki) out of Japan and back in to TNA. Which I doubt would happen, since Low Ki is the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, but hey, the chance is there.

What I don’t like is just dropping this idea without going forward and trying something different. I was looking forward to seeing how they went through with this storyline, based off the video game. I think it’s a good idea, and would’ve been fresh and different, and something to watch. Now, it’s just back to the same old grind and garbage that the Russo disciples have been shoving down our throats.

I had written a while back I was going to do a review of the Dragon Gate Best of release that was the promotion’s first go round here in North America. While I have not had the chance to go through it match by match, and give you all a full fledged review, I can tell you this. It’s definitely something I would recommend. I enjoyed the CIMA vs. Gamma Hair vs. Hair match a lot. The Open the Dream Gate match between Don Fujii and Susumu Yokosuka was incredibly intense. Any DVD that has a match involving Jushin Thunder Liger is never a bad purchase. And lastly, the eight man war involving BxB Hulk, Liger, Jack Evans and Matt Sydal doing battle with Naruki Doi, Masato Yoshino, Kevin Steen, and Magnitude Kishiwada was chaotic from the word go. I know it’s a bit of a pain in the neck to wait for the DVD package from ROHWrestling.com, but if you’re looking for intense action against the grain of normal American wrestling, it’s an extremely positive option to explore.

I just was informed that I am scheduled to be the guest on the 10/25 edition of the Pro Wrestling Rewind simulcast here on Wrestleview.com. I’m liable to definitely pump out a few more soap box preacher like statements from the mount known as my psychotic opinions on the radio with the Power, Andy Knowles. I hope you guys check it out.

For now, let me roll.

Thanks for reading.

Ok, I can’t figure out how to make this post cosmetically pleasing, and frankly, i don’t have the attention span to care.  sorry.

Thoughts following #273

September 29, 2008

I had said during the column that I was going to work on the review of the DVD package that is the 1st North American release from Japan’s Dragon Gate Promotion. Well, I am working on it, and I just watched a match from 2006, featuring two men who absolutely beat the holy crap out of each other so badly they couldn’t even stand up. Don Fujii vs. Susumu Yokosuka for the top prize in Dragon Gate, the Open the Dream Gate Championship.

I don’t know about you, but this match is what wrestling is about. Will to win, desire to do what you have to do to get it done, no bullshit, no gimmicks, no swerves. Two men who fought like mad to find out who is the better man. I loved it.

In my opinion, and I still have a lot of matches to go, this damn match is worth the effort to buy this DVD set right now.

Palace Column 273: Bits for a Monday AM

September 29, 2008

I just put this up on Wrestleview.  Since I don’t have an archive link section yet, here it is in its entirety.

It’s been a while since the Palace has barked its opinions, so allow me the opportunity, if you would be so kind.

First off, congratulations go out to the Wrestleview administration for the new design. It’s very attractive. Also, congratulations to Hunter and Tom for their respective promotions. I hope Hunter can understand that I’m not exactly, well, um, nevermind, I better not go there. Anyways….

In the not too distant future, expect a review of the “Best of Dragon Gate, Volume One” Double DVD. I have not made it private knowledge that I am very interested in Japanese puroresu, and with this release coinciding with Dragon Gate’s recent invasion of the west coast, this is the chance for me to finally see some of the talents that I have only read about. I have not had the chance to see the whole thing yet, I only got it saturday, but what I have seen, I have enjoyed immensely. The one difference with Japanese wrestling compared to the US, which may be a contradiction, but I don’t care, is the Japanese product is extremely fast and emotional, while the American product focuses a little too much on stories, and not enough on athleticism. I have also noted some assemblance of laughter in the product from Japan, which is often difficult to see on television in the United States.

Staying on the topic of Japanese wrestling, I was asked in an email about my reaction to WWE signing former New Japan wrestler Naofumi Yamamoto. My answers to that is kind of complicated. I personally am not familiar with Yamamoto’s work, as my exposure to New Japan has been limited to mostly the TNA Global Impact DVD. While I have had more exposure to NOAH and Dragon Gate wrestlers, I would tend to believe that if Yamamoto was allowed to be himself, and not have to adapt to WWE standards of wrestling, I think the signing would be an advantage.

What I mean by WWE’s standard of wrestling, is I firmly believe WWE trains their talents in Florida to take a significant edge off their arsenal of moves in a vain attempt to curtail injuries. I think the first attempt they have made in lessening these mandates has been with Matt “Evan Bourne” Sydal, because I would have believed when he went in to WWE developmental, that he would have come out a much different combatant. Apparently, WWE may have seen the light a little bit, and allowed a guy like Bourne to showcase his true talents. I would believe, if Yamamoto is allowed to showcase his true abilities, then anything is possible. If he’s forced to adapt to the WWE style, well, then your guess is as good as mine.

I guess my pipe dream that was beginning to blossom by the NWA title being defended (and changed hands twice) in ROH rings has come and gone, as ROH has parted ways with Adam Pearce, new NWA World Champion, as a cost cutting measure. While I respect the budget of ROH, and the need to, at times, trim the finances, I don’t think this was good for business, as the name recognition of the NWA would have surely benefited ROH, short term and long term. I also noted from lurking on the ROH message boards that they recently postponed a tour in Florida for next weekend. The reaction was less than stellar, which leads me to believe that, well, nevermind, I don’t want to say it because I’m sure the new admins at WV would not be pleased if I truly said what I felt regarding the reaction to the postponement of ROH’s Florida shows.

MOVING ON….

I had thought the idea to bring TNA’s Video Game main character, “Suicide” in to the live product would be an awesome idea to build up the reputation of the game, but apparently, that has been scuttled with Frankie Kazarian’s recent injury. It’s really sad, too, because I would have supported this idea immensely, as I thought it was thinking outside the box and innovative. Now, if they do bring Kazarian back as the Suicide character when he returns, it’s going to be so late in the game it won’t have half the impact it would have if he had been able to do this gimmick presently. It’s a shame too, because I think it would have bolstered sales of the game, which I have grown to enjoy tremendously, once finishing the story mode.

I am really disappointed with the WWE’s lack of use with regard to Colt “Scotty Goldman” Cabana. While I am incredibly happy for Cabana to have made it to the WWE main roster, his “jobber” status makes me think that nobody in creative has any clue what this guy can do, and that is a mistake. I have seen this man get hardcore in matches with Homicide of LAX back in ROH, and I have seen this man do comedy like nobody’s business with Delirious back in ROH. To me that is the complete package, if you can run the gamut between both of those extremes. To have a guy with that much talent jobbing to a walking tree trunk like the Great Khali is as big a miscarriage of justice there is. Hopefully, somebody at WWE will see the light, but frankly, I doubt it. I am kind of disappointed that Punk hasn’t spoken up and wanted to see Cabana work with him as a tag team partner. I can see the Saints reuniting in WWE a hell of a lot more than I can see CM Punk teaming up with Kofi Kingston.

Which brings me to CM Punk. How the mighty have fallen. From wanting revenge on Randy Orton and Chris Jericho for basically stealing the World Heavyweight Championship from him at Unforgiven, to finding a partner to go after DiBiase and Rhodes for the World Tag Team Championship. What did Punk do to deserve such a demotion? It’s mind boggling how one minute you can be main eventing a pay per view, and the next moment, you’re in the opening dark match of a Raw house show. It’s pathetic how stupidly WWE suits use some of their more talented competitors.

I’ve read the reports of how the young stars on Smackdown are not enjoying the treatment that the Game has been giving them, and that the Game is using these tactics as a political ploy to piss off the Undertaker, to eventually lead the Game and the Dead Man to a match at Wrestlemania, where Trips beats Undertaker for the first time. Obviously, I’m no source, and I don’t intend to say that I ever could be one, but if there’s a shred of truth in these findings, then I have lost a lot of respect for Triple H. H can be one of the top dogs on the brand for his resume alone, and it speaks volumes to the younger guys, but to publicly humiliate them when they need all the help they can get to connect with the fans is really kind of low. Hopefully, the dust will settle on this problem before it becomes a whirling tornado.

I have to talk briefly about the WWE title match at No Mercy. I am stunned, and I will say I am wrong, right here and now. I said when Jeff Hardy returned from his latest stint of suspension after violating the wellness policy that he wouldn’t sniff the WWE title again. Obviously, I am mistaken. And, unfortunately, so is he. I believe whole heartedly that Jeff had a legitimate shot to unseat the Game and take the big gold strap home to North Carolina following his trip to the Rose Garden, but I believe whatever deeds that occurred in the Nashville airport to make a newsworthy story has taken that chance away from Jeff. WWE has to be scared blind to put that type of responsibility on someone’s shoulders who is not reliable. And whether you like it or not, Jeff Hardy is not a reliable source to take the responsibility of a major championship in this company. I also would like to see a little more animosity grow during this feud, which leads me to believe even more that the Game will triumph. Whether its in Portland, or down the road, Jeff Hardy’s chances to win the WWE Championship dwindled when that plane left Nashville, Tennessee, and he wasn’t on it.

Batista is frustrated, and wants time off. Well, two things of note here. One, I think I would be frustrated too, if I was involved in vignettes with Santino Marella. I know people are gonna say they love this guy, but I don’t see it. Two, I can relate if Batista is severely sore and banged up, and needs to heal. However, with the product in as big a transition period as it has been, regardless of his reactions from the fans, I would think Batista would do wise to shut up, get with the program, and keep doing what he’s doing. He’s obviously still a major draw inside the WWE Universe, and to pull out now because he’s upset about his spot on the show is really rather patheitc. WWE gave this guy a win over their top dog, their absolute top dog, before he got hurt, at Summerslam, and Batista’s still not satisfied. To me, that smells like a one word answer. Primadonna. That’s something nobody needs or deserves in the wrestling business.

Let’s peek at the card for the MyNetwork TV debut of Smackdown. Santino Marella vs. Shelton Benjamin. Man, this is a mismatch in every level. Beth Phoenix better figure out a way to make this match more even sided, because Shelton’s gonna kill Santino. And from where I sit, I’m gonna enjoy seeing the US champion dismantle the so called Intercontinental champion.

Divas Champion Michelle McCool vs. Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix. I don’t see how McCool can win this match, as Phoenix outperforms McCool in virtually every aspect. I think Smackdown will lose this one, and lose it huge.

JBL, Kendrick. MVP & Kane vs. Finlay, Rey, Jeff & Batista. First off, Kendrick oughta be thanking the good Lord above that he’s getting this main event push. I don’t know how he’s gotten it, but he has, and to his credit, he’s done pretty well with it. Finlay being on this eight man is kind of a surprise, but hey, he loves to fight, and I got zero problems seeing it. The rest of this doesn’t really thrill me, but it’s not too bad. Eight mans are never easy to call because they always turn in to cluster bombs.

Jericho vs. The Game vs. Matt Hardy. This is probably Matt’s biggest match since winning the ECW title. With Mark Henry looming on the horizon, is Matt going to overlook the WWE and World Champions? He better not, or he’s going to get his ass kicked. It’s going to surprise me if there’s a clean winner here, because I would be shocked if WWE would put one champion over the other, but if there’s going to be one, I would think Jericho would beat Matt first. But, one way or another, it’s going to be fun to see how this match unfolds.

Speaking of Matt, there’s a report about which diva Matt is currently dating. Question, has the internet wrestling community turned in to TMZ? WHO CARES! I don’t. So, I won’t go any further in to it.

A little TNA chat. Question. Is it policy in Total Non Stop Action to always allow Sting a world title match at Bound For Glory? I mean, think about it, Sting gets the shot this year, he had the shot last year against Angle, and two years ago, he had the shot against Jarrett. Hello, is this getting a little redundant ladies and gentlemen? Please! I mean, in both other cases, Sting won the gold, and I don’t think that’ll be the case here, but come on, how about a little more variety, Jeff? Is it possible? Can we do that please? Why the hell hasn’t AJ Styles had a shot at the World title? He’s been out of the loop since the NWA dropped the ball. How about putting your BEST ATHLETE back in to the mix for the top prize in your company? Isn’t that going to be GOOD FOR BUSINESS? I would think so, and I would tend to believe that most other readers and fans of this column would too.

The X Division title match at Bound For Glory. Sheik Abdul “Don’t call me Daivari” Bashir vs. Consequences “Apollo” Creed. Um. Ok, variety is good, don’t get me wrong on that one, but why the hell does this match have to go down at all when you have the former TerrorDome on the card? PUT THE BELT ON THE LINE IN THE DOME! At least there you got a reason to put these two guys in to the card, and have more other WELL KNOWN X Division stars alongside them. (Petey, Sonjay, Curry Man, Eric Young, etc.) I just don’t think a title match on the biggest card of the year for TNA needs to be this meaningless. And truthfully, the X title match at BFG is meaningless. Especially with the Dome match also on the card.

However, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea of the tag team monster’s ball title match. Storm & Roode vs. LAX vs. Abyss & Morgan vs. 3D is BEAUTIFUL. Chaos, weapons, blood, and gore unleashed. This will make me buy the DVD. No question about it.

Anyways, that’s all for now. I know I’m going to have more in the coming days and weeks, but its been nearly two weeks since I yelled, and with the new design, it was time to make my contribution. SO, here it is. Hope you liked it.

Life can be so detrimental some times….

September 25, 2008

It sucks when you have little to no motivation to embark on a new journey. I’ve ignored this place for a while, like I’ve ignored other aspects of my tenure in cyberspace. It’s depressing, and it’s difficult to change.

I’m trying, but it’s not easy.

Category thing from now on….

September 22, 2008

I have done about sixty or so posts categorically, and I am losing my mind.

Hopefully, I’ll get the rest done, but then, when you have 350 plus posts… it’s a bit much…

i’m done, for now. Ring of Honor’s “Rising Above” on the DVD player… as I continue waiting to go home.

The Palace Shout Out Box

September 22, 2008

As I change sites to wordpress, I am finding out that the site where I got the new shout out box that I have on blogger doesn’t work here. However, there is another option that allows me to have the box come up in a new window solely through a link on the cbox.ws website.

So, with that, I will offer you this as a solution.

Palaceproject.cbox.ws

That link will take you to the palace shout out box, in a new window, which should still work on the boards and podcasting page. I’ll make sure it’s on any other pages I do here at wordpress.

TNA Impact Game Completed…

September 22, 2008

I’m done with the Impact game storyline.  I like the game a lot.  Yes, there are drawbacks, but damn, it’s still addicting and fun to play.  It’s a hell of a good hangover until Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 is out..

AJ vs. Daniels vs. Joe in Ultimate X.

Book  it.  I did.  AJ won. :)

A New Location, and a new journey…

September 21, 2008

Sometimes, its time to try something new.  Truth be told, I am doing this because I saw the sites I look at frequently on puroresufan.com using wordpress.com technology, and I thought I could do the same.  Blogger only goes so far, and it appears this place has some more things to offer.

Unfortunately, right now, the IMPORT section of this thing appears to be on the fritz, so for the moment, I can’t bring the content from blogspot here.  For now, I’ll just start over here, and hopefully, soon, I’ll be able to get the blogspot content here in the future.

Obviously, since the post was written, I was able to import the blogger content. I am in the process of categorizing all 300 plus posts that I have imported. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

At least it keeps me out of trouble. :)
For now, ta ta.

TNA Impact Video Game thoughts

September 18, 2008

I was and am still going through story mode. I had trouble beating the Motor City Machine Guns in Japan, but once I practiced, and figured out the deal behind the application of a finisher, things have begun to pick up. I beat the McMGs, then got to LAX, and beat them in the second attempt. At present, I’m in a singles match with Sonjay Dutt when the disc froze on me. I think I can beat him. I am getting more happier with the game as I learn the controls. I don’t like the no titles aspect, but the gameplay is absolutely sick. I am getting happier with this game as the days progresses.

Oh, btw, sorry Jay Lethal. Lethal was my tackling dummy as AJ Styles showed me the finishers application properly after kicking Lethal’s ass all over the Impact Zone and back.

Oh, one more thing. I am not a fan of the commentary on wrestling games, but I have to say, as much as it becomes repetitive drivel during matches, at least TNA got the deal done better by not focusing on anything else but the spots done during the matches. On the SvR games, they move all over the place, and frankly, that just annoys me to no end.

AJ & Daniels as the hit men for the “Big Man”. I am assuming the “Big Man” is Double J. Can’t wait to take his ass out.

more as I go through the story mode.

Emails in follow up to Chapter 272…

September 18, 2008

I spoke in 272 abou the possibilities of talent exchanges between the companies in the US, like what’s done in the promotions in Japan. From that, I have some emails I would like to show.

First off, from my buddy Adam…

I’ve often thought what would happen if WWE and TNA had a Talent Exchange like WCW and ECW had back in the day (which usually ended in all the ECW guys never coming back…), and even though I can’t really say there was a “Card” I always wanted, I knew there were a few spots that I always wanted to see.

Opening Contest: LAX vs. The Briscoe Bros. vs. Even Bourne and Rey Mysterio

I think this is just the match to get the crowd up and energized for some matches that will have slow points leading to their major spots. If one of these teams were a champion and those belts were on the line, it would be even more exciting.

Ultimate Submission (30 minute Submission Iron Man Match): Brian Danielson vs. Kurt Angle

I think this match speaks for itself.

Ultimate X Match for the US Title: Petey Williams vs. RVD vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Shelton Benjamin

All I want this match for is RVD taking a Canadian Destroyer. That, for me, would be the greatest spot in wrestling history to see the King of the Oversell take the Canadian Destroyer.

TNA Title (2 out of 3 falls to a finish) Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk

This would be the match that non-WWE fans would need to see to realize how stupid TNA was for SEX all those years ago, and for WWE fans (and writers… and HHH) to see that Punk CAN have main event quality matches.

ECW Title Scramble: Matt Hardy vs. AJ Styles vs. The Kendrick vs. Amazing Red vs. “The Pheonix” Jody Fliesch

SPOT FEST 2009 is here!

Elimination Chamber for the WWE Title: HHH vs. Nigel McGuinness vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Low Ki vs. Abyss vs. Rhyno

Abyss and Rhyno are the two most underutilized men on the TNA roster, and it’s a shame that they are being left on the back burner for guys like Angle and Booker T who have already had their time in the limelight. I think this match could lead to some amazing moment for all 3 companies to be proud of.

Ladder Match for the World Heavyweight Title (Main Event): Chris Jericho vs. AJ Styles vs. Brian Danielson vs. Low Ki vs. CM Punk vs. Even Bourne

I know that most of the ladder match would be guys in their second match, but it’s my dream card, and I can make it happen.

thoughts? Opinions

One sentence. I LIKE IT. A lot. That ladder match main event would be sick.

Now from my buddy Michael:

I was thinking about this as well and i also had a recomondation that every
year, the PPV switches to a different organization like how the Super Bowl
switches to the different networks, that way they would get their piece of the
pie. But anyways, here is my dream card if i could come up with one (granted i
only know of TNA and WWE so please bear with me)

Kane V Abyss
Inferno Match

Sonjay Dutt V Rey Mysterio V Jay Lethal V The Brian Kendrick

Team 3D V The Hardy Boys V Edge and Christian
TLC Match – one more time!

Robert Roode V CM Punk

Santino Marrella V Eric Young

Beth Phoenix V Awesome Kong

Hector Guerrero V Chavo Guerrero

Samoa Joe V Umaga

Randy Orton V Booker T

BG James/Kip James/Triple H/Shawn Michaels V AJ Styles/Rhino/Mr. Kennedy/JBL

Kurt Angle V Chris Jericho

Batista V Undertaker V Sting V (ugh) Kevin Nash

Eh. It’s alright, but like you said it will never happen.
But it is fun to dream sometimes. If Flair would want to, one last time with
Sting though would be fun!

All of that is a hell of an idea. I don’t know about doing 3D vs. The Hardys vs. E&C again, but damn they were cool. Santino vs. Eric Young. Young will kill him. The eight man is nuts…

And the last one for now, from my pal The AmericKHan Dream…

This idea would be incredible, intense, and I’m sure many other adjectives that begin with the letter “I”. I would love to see this. I would love to see this go past even title matches. I have a few dream matches of my own:

1. Motor City Machine Guns Vs. Paul London & The Brian Kendrick
2. AJ Styles Vs. Rey Mysterio
3. Samoa Joe Vs. Triple H

Those are just a few. This idea is great but I don’t think it will ever happen. Maybe Vince McMahon is afraid that if he puts his talent up against some of the best in the world, people will realize that WWE isn’t as top notch as everyone thinks it is [okay...so I'm biased].

The last time I remember seeing a champion Vs. champion match was when current ECW Champion, Taz, wrestled WWE Champion, Triple H on Smackdown! I don’t exactly consider this that much of a “cross-company” adventure though, as Taz was a current WWE superstar.

We all know how successful WWE’s wrestling program for the troops in Iraq is…Imagine how successful a supershow for charity between the major companies in the United States would be. Oh my God…The possibilities are endless!

Thanks for an amazing, thought provoking column.
